You can't always just drink cold-pressed juices . Even though I live right by the source, I still like to make myself a fresh smoothie every now and then. I'll be sharing some of my favorite recipes with you here on the blog soon. We're starting with a very special ingredient: Moringa. In this green smoothie recipe, I'll show you how it's done.
Moringa is one of my top five superfoods because it's packed with antioxidants, a great source of protein, and also rich in beta-carotene and amino acids. I love adding it to my morning green smoothie or our liquid salad . Gram for gram—they say moringa has twice as much protein as yogurt, four times as much vitamin A as carrots, three times as much potassium as bananas, four times more calcium than milk, and a whopping eight times as much vitamin C as fresh oranges. Wow.

But what exactly is Moringa? This superfood powder is made from the leaves of the Moringa oleifera tree, which is particularly widespread in Africa. As you can easily see from my list, it is one of the most nutrient-rich plants ever discovered. Fresh Moringa powder is deep green, has a rich, nutty flavor, and is obtained by drying the small leaves. After drying, the dried leaves are ground and impurities are filtered out. The powder is usually packaged in airtight bags. This way, the superfood powder can be stored for several months without losing any of its nutritional value.
Moringa powder contains 20 types of amino acids, 46 antioxidants, 36 anti-inflammatory compounds, and over 90 other valuable nutrients. An ideal dietary supplement.
Before I get completely carried away with this stuff: Here's my recipe for a delicious green superfood smoothie.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 teaspoon moringa powder
- 1 apple
- 1 cucumber
- 2 stalks of celery
- 1 handful of spinach leaves
- 1 handful of kale (fresh, please)
- 1/2 lemon
Preparation:
We're making a smoothie – so into the blender with everything! It's best to halve or quarter the apple and cucumber beforehand. And don't forget: drink it quickly. Blending (unlike cold pressing) traps oxygen, which causes the green smoothie to oxidize quickly. So drink it up fast!
Where can I find Moringa?
I order my Moringa online. For example from Vitafy.de or Amazon .
